We read this in one of my classes and it's really fascinating. Oliver Sacks is a neurologist and shares all these case studies about people who have really bizarre and intense musical experiences or abilities (often afer a traumatic accident or illness) and he talks about what's going on in the brain with all that, as well as some other really interesting stuff. He's also got alot of videos on Youtube explaining several of the chapters.
